How to Send Money from Paypal to Venmo?
Paypal and Venmo both work well for anyone looking to send money to another user, invest in cryptocurrency, and even shop! Sure, the two work well separately, but how can you send money from Paypal to Venmo?
Venmo and Paypal both work very well at sending other users funds quickly. This only works for other users using the same app though, so you can’t send your money across platforms.
Sure, you can’t send your money from Paypal to Venmo like you could another Paypal user, but that doesn’t mean you can’t send it at all! If you have a separate bank account you can use as a sort of middle man, or either one of the app’s free debit cards, you can send money easily.
You can do it for free too, as both apps offer free transfers — both in and out of their apps. Transfers outside of either app usually take 1 – 3 business days, unless you opt for an instant transfer and are willing to pay a small fee.
How to Send Money from Paypal to Venmo Using a Bank Account
Using a bank account might be the easiest way to send money from Paypal to Venmo.
If you bank with a traditional bank, like Chase Bank or Bank of America, and choose to connect that to both your Paypal and Venmo accounts, you can send your money there from Paypal before sending it to its final destination in Venmo.
- To connect your accounts, all you’ll need is to login to Paypal with your bank account’s account number and routing number ready. Paypal will also let you connect your account by logging into your bank’s website or online platform and completing the process there.
- Once your Paypal account is connected to your bank account, go ahead and transfer whatever funds you want to reach Venmo to your bank account. The transfer may take anywhere between 1-3 business days if you choose to transfer your funds for free, or instantly for a small fee.
- Repeat the same process connecting your bank account within Venmo. You’ll need the same information: your bank’s account and routing number. Or, like Paypal, you can log into your bank’s online platform and connect the two from there.
- It may seem a little convoluted, using a bank account simply as a middleman to conduct a transaction, but it may be the fastest and most convenient way to send money from Paypal to Venmo.
How to Send Money from Paypal to Venmo using the Paypal Card
There are a ton of transfer apps on the market, like Paypal, cash app, or Venmo, and they all function in different ways. While they each have their own strengths and weaknesses, they do have one thing in common: a debit card!
Transfer apps like Paypal and Venmo used to be for people who wanted to transact online or with their phones, not for people looking for a traditional debit card as they could find at a bank. But their user bases grew, and new users wanted new ways to use their balances.
Paypal is partnered with Mastercard, giving their card users the ability to use their Paypal debit cards just about anywhere. I’ll go into detail about Venmo’s card in the next section.
The Paypal debit card is free, and once you get it you have a whole new way of transfer money from Paypal to Venmo. You can apply for it in the Paypal app, and after quick background checks where they determine your eligibility, you should be approved.
How to Send Money from Paypal to Venmo Using Venmo Card
Venmo has a debit card too, called the Cash Card. The Cash Card works much like a debit card coming from a traditional bank does, drawing on your Venmo Balance and using card numbers, a security code, and an expiration date to do so.
The Cash Card can also be linked to your Paypal account so that you can send money to Venmo. If your Venmo card is connected to your Paypal account, you can deposit whatever funds you have in Paypal straight to Venmo.
When you receive your free Cash Card in the mail, go to Paypal to connect the two accounts. Click on the “wallet” tab in Paypal towards the bottom right hand corner. On the top of the wallet screen in the Paypal app is a button that reads “add debit card or bank account”. Click on that to move forward.
Venmo isn’t on there, so you’ll have to enter your card manually. Using the card’s numbers, expiration date, and security code, you can connect Paypal to Venmo.
After you’ve confirmed everything looks good, feel free to deposit whatever funds you have from Paypal into Venmo by using your Cash Card.
