3D Finite Element Analysis Software

Analyzes complex 3D geotechnical models for civil and mining projects, perfect for both rock and soil.

RS3 3D Excavation and Slope Finite Element Analysis Software
Rocscience RS3 is a general finite element analysis software, mainly used for analysis and calculation of various geotechnical engineering problems such as underground caverns and tunnel excavation and support design, surface excavation support and foundation design, foundation consolidation analysis and seepage calculation.
Rocscience RS3 software’s powerful phased construction processing method can flexibly simulate problems such as step-by-step excavation, support analysis, load addition analysis and similar problems, up to hundreds of different construction stages. In order to assist and allocate between stages, the software provides a construction stage sequence design function, which can quickly handle the allocation of complex and repetitive work.
Rocscience RS3 software can simulate soil and rock materials, and constitutive models include Mohr-Coulomb, Generalized Hoek-Brown, Cam Clay and Drucker-Prager. Users can complete the specification of material parameters with a few clicks of the mouse. For the establishment of complex 3D models, RS3 software also supports importing CAD files (such as DXF files) into the model and making corrections.
To simulate the support system, RS3 software provides a wide range of support units, including linings, beams, piles, etc. At the same time, these units can be used in combination in excavations, slopes, foundations, retaining walls, and embankments. Anchor types include end-knot type, anchor, full-length bonded type (soil nails), split type, anchor cables, etc. The initial masonry includes shotcrete and reinforced concrete, and composite linings can also be specified. Relative sliding is allowed between different linings.
Rocscience RS3 software can analyze three-dimensional seepage problems in geotechnical engineering. It can be fully coupled with stress analysis for effective stress analysis, or it can be used independently as a seepage analysis software. When doing seepage calculations, steady-state or transient seepage analysis can be performed. When coupled with stress for stress/pore water pressure coupling analysis, the software uses Biot’s consolidation theory to more realistically simulate soil deformation characteristics, such as dam consolidation, surface excavation, or shallow buried tunnels through clay layers.
In RS3, users can specify different types of stress conditions, including initial stress fields (tectonic stress and gravity), distributed loads, concentrated loads (line loads or point loads), seismic stresses and springs. Constraints and boundary conditions are also very easy to specify. In the software, users can specify a 3D grid with 4 or 10 nodes.
After the calculation is completed, Rocscience RS3 allows switching between 2D or 3D views to view the results, such as stress, displacement, strain, velocity vector, etc. Users can also view the cloud map of the excavation area or the cloud map of a custom plane, draw the results of a certain boundary, draw the internal force and displacement of the support, and draw the results of different stages. All result information can be exported in the format required by the user.
