What are Lortab Pills ?

As previously discussed, Lortab is a prescription drug used to relieve mild to moderately severe pain. It can treat pain in two separate ways because it contains both Lortab and acetaminophen.

A drug called Lortab is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Acetaminophen and hydrocodone are the two components of Lortab. Acetaminophen, also referred to by the brand name Tylenol, is a popular drug used to treat fevers and minor pain. Although Lortab is an opioid, unlike Acetaminophen, it is also used to treat pain. As such, it is the more potent component of Lortab and has the potential to lead to addiction and overdose. The  Lortab and acetaminophen in Lortab work together to provide pain relief.

Take Lortab as directed by your doctor. Observe every instruction on the prescription drug label. Never take this medication in greater or longer doses than recommended. An overdose may result in liver damage or even death. If the medication seems to stop treating your pain as well, let your doctor know.

Even at normal doses, hydrocodone has the potential to become addictive. Never give this medication to someone else, particularly if they have a history of drug abuse or addiction. Misuse of narcotic medications has the potential to result in addiction, overdose, or death, particularly in children and other people who use the drugs without a doctor’s prescription. It’s against the law to sell or distribute Lortab.

Use the accompanying dosing syringe, a dose-measuring spoon, or medicine cup to measure liquid Lortab. Ask your pharmacist for a dose-measuring tool if you don’t already have one.

Inform your doctor ahead of time that you are on Lortab if you need surgery or medical testing. You might have to take a brief break from taking the medication.

After using Lortab for a while, do not suddenly stop using medication since you can have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Find out from your doctor how to discontinue taking this medication without risk.

Rarely, acetaminophen may result in a deadly severe skin response. This could happen even if you’ve used acetaminophen in the past without experiencing any negative effects.
